Vermont's breakthrough Civil Union legislation enacted in July 2001, offers essentially identical spousal rights to same-sex couples as they do to opposite-sex couples who are legally married. It continues to only carry legal weight in the state of Vermont, but continues to be popular with out-of-state couples because it is the most legally recognized in the United States. Northern Lights Lodge is the perfect location to hold your Civil Union. Innkeeper Al Holzgruber has over 20 years experience as an event planner, and can coordinate all the details to make your day more special and stress-free. We have several great on-site locations for your ceremony, including a gazebo in the woods, a riverside park area and beautiful perennial garden areas. If you're planning on a larger event, we do have a large banquet hall that can seat up to 180, and can either cater your event or work with your caterer. And with 50 rooms, we have the room to house your guests without concerns about drinking and driving.
